As has recently been announced in the press, the
Rodger Mirrey Collection has recently been given to the University
of Edinburgh, and the majority of the instruments are now on display
in the galleries at St Cecilia's Hall. In recognition of this gift,
the University of Edinburgh music department and the Edinburgh
University Collection of Historic Musical Instruments is the host a
symposium on the clavichord on October 27-29. A Call for Papers can
be found at :

May I personally invite all members of this list to look at the
link (and, by following the link you will be able to see another
link to a list of all the keyboard instruments which belong to,
or are on loan to, the University's Collection of Historic
Musical Instruments). It is envisaged that all of the
performances will use original instruments from the collection
(all the clavichords, apart from the Rackwitz, are in playing
condition). Many members of the British Clavichord Society are
very familiar with previous events in Edinburgh, and in addition
to them, I would especially like to invite those from other
parts of the world to attend this event.
