The 2027 meeting of the American Musical Instrument Society will be hosted by the Biblioteca Fray Francisco de Burgoa in Oaxaca de Juárez, Mexico. The library, housed in the Centro Cultural Santo Domingo, a former monastery, is one of the most important collections in the country, housing rich cultural material. Oaxaca is home to a large number of historical musical instruments. One of the city's most remarkable features is the number of pipe organs that have been preserved, most of them built during the viceregal period (1521–1810) and some still in playing condition. Other instruments from archaelogical sites or made in local communities may be seen in local museums, many of them located within 1 to 5 kilometers of the city center or in the center itself.

Oaxaca City is one of the most popular cultural destinations in Mexico and Latin America. All types of accommodation are available at a wide range of prices from very affordable to high-end luxury hotels. The city brims with culinary richness, from refined restaurants to vibrant street food and bustling market stalls, ensuring unforgettable dining experiences.
